I'm back

Aabar she ashiachhe phire.

My exams are over. But, the real exam begings now. I have great talent at messing things up. It seems that whenever I want something desperately, I seem to falter.

Anyway, after the exam, I went to BCL and got a book on Partial Differential Equations, for my upcoming presentation. Met Kirtiman and Suto at BCL. Then Suto and I went to the Oxford bookstore. Suto got about 5 kilos of books. I got The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins. His earlier book, The Selfish Gene, has been one of my favourites.

Speaking of The Selfish Gene, it introduced the concept of a meme. Or should I say, the meme of a meme? OK, enough of recursive statements for my friendly neighbourhood computer scientists. If memetic evolution sounds interesting to you, do read up The Meme Machine by Susan Blackmore. I think I have seen a copy at BCL.

apoplexy: PeacefulAction is experiencing some troubles, but we'll surely sort it out. How did you come to know of it? And I'll surely stick to research in Physics.

babelfish: Havent read Gould. Should I try it out? I'll post a review of The Blind Watchmaker after I finish reading it. It might take a long time though.

I'll surely give Gould a try.

The troubles with PA are mostly technical, backdated software etc. We are constantly under attact from crackers. But, we do manage to keep up.

"And stick to research...." Sure.

Yup, Penrose sure interests me. I even have a signed copy of The Emperor's New Mind! But, I've had no contact with such ideas apart from Penrose. Tell me more.

Yesterday, we were standing a little distance from an ad which was supposed to read "Thanda Matlab C... ...." Shamashis got very confused as the "Thanda" had been eroded off....

About the MATLAB cocacaola, I can sponsor coca cola if you can teach me the stuff, I prefer shingara and kochuri, though, beguni even better, deemer devil way better.
Try soft drinks at Paramount opposite Colege Sq. sometime, I dont know whether you like the hard varieties.
Will tell you more..on the "new mind" science...detail e...more about opportunities...but I am on the move, very limited internet access. What interests you about the Penrose book...also what interests you about consciousness in general, if it does, and why so?
Lately lots of jhamela on the net....blogwars..khistee khasta...but used IIT KGP tech support to crack ip addresses...I guess you can do that kind of thing too....I had two derogatory blogs created to my name...ei ar ki..mallar babur shaathe contact ache? niomito?

I dont usually have Coca Cola. But, Paramount's Choco Malai is hot, errr... I mean cool.

Do have a look at this.

After reading The Emperor's new mind, I had become obsessed with making a program pass the Turing test. I had fed almost the complete works of Shakespeare, Marx, Freud etc into a program, which then talked very educated sounding rubbish.

Last Mallar Sir ke dekhechilum BCLe. Ekdin SPHS visit korbo bhabchhi. Shunlum Sir naki abar majhe majhe class nen. Partha Sir er shongeo dekha korte hobe.

Dab Shorbot to khai ni! Khe janabo.

Ekbar free Coke, ami ar amar ek cousin, competion kore khe, bomi korechilum. She onek chhotobelar kotha.

Matlab means "Matrix Laboratory", so it expresses almost everything as matrices. Actually, matrices, are very convenient for doing any kind of maths. So, its never too late to learn Matrices and maybe a bit of Tensors. I would suggest, Mathematical Methods for Physics and Engineering by Riley, Hobson & Bence for a quick intro. Its light on the pocket too.

For a few other points of view, you can have a look at this and this. But trust me, you cant use it to its full capacity without Matrices.
